WC XI

1. Matty Hayden, 650+ runs at 73+ and at more than a run a ball, he virtually gave Australia the momentum or got them into the tournament. No contenders.
2. Sanath Jayasuriya, 467 runs, 2 centuries, 2 fifties. Not a great tournament with the ball but the only other opening option I considered was Gilchrist.

Memorable for all the wrong reasons…

A horrrible death, numerous sackings, many retirements, India and Pakistan’s (not so) shocking exits, the resultant missing crowds, the horrible organisation, the one sided contests, a few players on drunken binges, captaincy changes, squad changes, the never ending boredom topped ironically by a truncated final. And the final itself marred by a shambolic farce.

Honest Confession time

A few days ago , was going to write a article asking when Adam Gilchrist was gonna join the rest of the Aussie masters retiring. It had been a poor season with more than a few poor scoresĀ  sprinkled with a few great perfomances like that blistering ashes century.
