No “I” in Jumbo..

No member of a crew is praised for the rugged individuality of his rowing.

That bit from Ralph Waldo Emerson really holds true for Anil Kumble.

One could talk about his heroics at the Hero Cup, or his ten-for, or his batting with Srinath , or the steely glare to a batter who’d been baffled by yet another by that spinner who couldn’t turn a cricket ball, or the number of times in his one day career that he was called on to bowl in the first fifteen with the team on the defensive and how that still translated into 337 ODI wickets at a 4.3 economy rate (thats 215 as an opposition score – think about it) – and yet nothing typifies this awesome champion and teamplayer more than this pic.

Even in the press conference announcing his retirement at the KSCA yesterday, there’s team before self in every answer.
